"Any reason to stare at me....."

"Any reasons to stare at me all the time." asked she with a twinkle in her eyes.

"Well, the day I saw you for the first time, coming from the college corridor in that white dress, girl, you took the very life out of me. We became close friends and I can say that you don't have a single mean bone in your body, and I thought they didn't make them like that anymore. When you smile, all of you smiles, even your hair and I still wonder how you do that. And above all, you are one of the best things that ever happened to me and I'm and will be in Love with you my whole life, no matter what, so will you do me the honor of becoming my wife" said he bend on his knees with a smile on his face.

Get a life.....

Agasthyan is the youngest in the family. He has a brother who is an engineer and a sister who is a doctor. Agasthyan being the notoriously not so good in studies little rascal of the family, he was every one's goal post for lecturing. Not a day would pass when some one or the other would lecture him about his life. Most common lines that he's used to hear is to get a life.

Since school's being closed for vacation, he would spend his whole day laying on the couch wat
ching movies from one end to the other. He was kind of crazy about movies. He would get up in the morning , do some usual stuff and then straight away head to the video parlor.

As usual Agasthyan was lying on the coach watching movies when his brother interrupted him.'What are you doing Agasthyan? Do you think lying on the coach whole day and watching movies would do you any good in your examination.Don't you want to get into an engineering college and be an engineer like me" said his brother adjusting the spectacles on his face.Agasthyan simple looked at his brother and got up from coach."What i meant is why do you waste time watching such foolish movies, do some thing which is of any good to you.Don't waste your time. For God sake, come on get a life boy."saying this his brother gets into his car and drives away.

Next it was his sister who was though getting late for the hospital but still found some time to preach the poor soul."Agasthayan...not again.Come on boy its time that you take your life more seriously and figure out what to do "...said she with a strain on her forehead."You cant be sitting whole day long and watch movies, you should get serious about studies.Come on, get a life boy." said she and rushed to the door.

His sister had just moved out of door when the phone bell rang and he picked up the phone. It was his dad.He was mostly out of the country on business tours.Though he wasn't at home but whenever he called he would make sure to give one or two lessons to Agasthayan."So what are you doing chap" asked his dad."Watching movie dad" replied he."Come on boy don't you have any thing else to do instead of watching movies" asked his dad."Come on boy go out hang out with your friends and don't spend the whole day watching movies, hope you understand what i'm trying to say.Come on, get a life boy" said he laughingly and put the phone down. Then suddenly some thing clicked Agasthyan and a mischievous smile came across his face.

He waited for his brother and sister to arrive in the evening on the couch itself. When they arrived they found him on the same couch itself."what the hell, do i need to tell you again whatever i told you in the morning" asked his brother  furiously."No brother i completely understood what you said.I even got what you asked me to.Its in the shelf to your left.Confused his brother and sister turned to the left shelf and found a thing covered in the newspaper. He opened it up.It was a LIFEBOUY.Agasthayan smiled and jumped out of couch and left the room and his sister smiled at his brother and said "He is still the notorious rascal of the family

Rhymed Confusion.....

It was kind of a marriage season this autumn.Every one was getting married, last month my close friend Amith got married, this month its Ravi who's getting engaged. And my family
too is busy finding the right match for me.Its quite difficult finding appropriate reasons every time to convince mom that the particular girl is not the One.I'm still trying to figure out how i'll present Kiran in front of her as the love of my life.My family being a bit conservative it will be a hard time to convince them for her, but have to do that after all she's the love of my life.

As a continuation of the girl finding operation, this week i'll be meeting a girl called Rashmi. Good thing about Rashmi is that i already know her through a common friend, Hiran and the bad thing is i'm short of good reasons to put her down in front of mom given the fact that she is damn pretty and mom knows her family too.I reached the Coffee shop where i was supposed to meet her and waited.Within another 5 minutes she arrived. She said 'Hi.., so you reached on time.I got a bit late'.Greeting her with a smile i said 'Hello..don't worry i just arrived'.We sat down "And by the way Hiran dropped me here.He was in a bit of hurry so didn't came in.Asked me to say Hi to you." said she."OK..anywaz what would you like to have tea or coffee" i asked."Coffee" she said.I ordered two coffee.

I had already made up my mind that i'll tell Rashmi every thing about me and Kiran and convince her to reject me.At that moment all i could think about was me and Kiran.Coffee arrives......"So how do you know HIRAN." she asked me.I felt as if she already read my mind, after taking a sip of coffee i looked at her and smiled."So he already told you about it right.I was worried how i'm going to present this in front of you.Any ways we both meet at a cultural fest an year ago.We both acted in play that year as Romeo and Juliet" hearing this Rashmi looked as if some one gave her an electric shock."What roles did you people play" she asked surprisingly."Offcourse Romeo and Juliet, actually modern day Romeo and Juliet and the best part was when we both kissed at the end of play." said i savoring those moments. Rashmi put down the coffee mug on the table and looked at me and said "I need to make an urgent call, i'll be back in a minute". She went outside the cafe and came back in 10 minute time. She looked at me and said"Listen Chris i can't marry you".Feeling as if she took words out of my mouth i replied "Arrey...i also can't Rashmi, i came here just to tell you that ever since the Romeo and Juliet play we both are in deep love with each other so i needed you to reject me if in case my mom asks."
"Sure i'll take care of that, i think i should leave" she picks her bag."Hey atleast finish your coffee" said i."No i don't feel like now" she smiles and leaves

The worst was yet to come.On way back home she calls her sister, tells her what ever happened in the cafe and her sister tells every one in her family. In the evening my mom calls her mom.On taking the call her mom sympathizes my mom that she should be strong enough to hear whatever she was about to say."Your son is Gay, he likes Men and has also a boy friend with whom he's in love since last year.Whole college knows about it and they have even kissed each other on the cultural fest in public. His name is HIRAN".hearing this mom faints.

In the evening when i reached home i was stunned to see Kiran, Hiran and Rashmi at my house.I looked at Kiran "How come you are here".Hiran got hold of me and explained everything to me in utter detail.Along came my dad and asked what the matter was to which i replied "Mom fainted due to a shock"."What shock" he enquired, to which Hiran replied pointing towards Rashmi .."She said Hiran. He mistook it to be Kiran.

My Review:

The book is a simple message and in damn simple manner. It doesn't seem like as if he's preaching, rather it's like a fun read with simple message to live every moment of life.Though the message we have heard a lot of time in movies like Zindagi na milegi dobara and Hollywood movie the bucket list has a similar theme but still the way the message has been told through this book is worth a read.Author's humorous way of telling the tale with some real life experience really inspires a lot.
All in all it was fun read and special.thanks to blog Adda for sending me this book as a part of the book review program.

Book Review :Redemption by Bryan Clay

Before reading this book i had no idea who Bryan Clay was and what a decathlon is, however the book caught my interest right away and held it to the end.
Redemption is the story of Bryan Clay about how he transformed into a Decathlon Champion and went on to win the Olympic Gold.Bryan had a disturbing childhood involving drugs. violence and Redemption is about how he transformed that life into a respectable one. Bryan journey of life is worth a read and must say that the way its been told is quite balanced and is quite inspiring.I would recommend this book.

Shave or Crave

"How do you feel when u keep that stubble of yours" she asked in harsh tone.
"Well i look good, all people in my office say i look awesome sporting a stubble
and after all hair on a man's face symbolize masculinity" was my prompt reply.
"Oh really, is it" said she amusingly.
"Any problem with that honey" i asked."Well u won't be sporting that stubble of yours tonight."
said she, "and why would be that" i inquired.

"Well you feel the beard shows off your masculinity, then better shave it off because that masculinity of yours
isn't convincing enough for me to come to the ball with you" said she with a stubborn attitude.
"Then let it be, i'll manage without you." said i at the peak of my masculinity.
"And after that when you come back, couch will be your better half in this cold night, don't you dare enter
the bedroom" said she.
"Ahh...i prefer a bedroom.Where is my gillete and honey get ready its already late.

Book Review -- 'The Bankster' By Ravi Subramanian

Synopsis:

Bankers build their careers on trust, or so everyone thinks, till a series of murders threaten to destroy the reputation that the Greater Boston Global Bank (GB2) has built over the years. Who is behind these killings, and what is their motive? When Karan Panjabi, press reporter and ex-banker, digs deeper, he realizes that he has stumbled upon a global conspiracy with far reaching ramifications a secret that could not only destroy the bank but also cast a shadow on the entire nation. With only thirty-six hours at his disposal, he must fight the clock and trust no one if he is to stay alive and uncover the truth.

About Author:

Mr. Ravi Subramanian- an alumnus of IIM Bangalore, has spent two decades working his way up the ladder of power in the amazingly exciting and adrenaline-pumping world of global banks in India. It is but natural that his stories are set against the backdrop of the financial services industry. He lives in Mumbai with his wife Dharini and daughter Anusha. In 2008, he won the Golden Quill Readers Choice award for his debut novel, If God was a Banker.

Review:

This is my first Ravi Subramanian novel and i'm impressed.Being a banker himself the story revolves around the banking sector and the style with which things are explained are quite easy for a layman to grasp without any of the core banking jargons used.

The style of writing is also like the new genre of writers who target majority audience wanting to read some thing in simple language. The author has used some Hindi words in the novel which if we take the Indian audience into account is fine but when it comes to a global perspective, it's a sure turn off.The book presents to the readers the story of a financial crime consisting of a massive fraud and money laundering in the banking sector and successive killings to hide it.

Now coming to the story, well it has 3 parallel stories going on which are latter linked together in a decent manner. Being a financial crime story, it mostly revolves a around a bank, about the way it operates, and a series of killings of people related with the bank which gives it a mystery angle.Another part of the story gives  a picture of arms deals happening in another part of the world. And third one is about a protest lead by a man in south india who had lost his son in the Chernobyl disaster Trikakulam Nuclear Power Project. The mystery about whole thing begins to unfold when a reporter becomes suspicious about the happenings in the bank.He digs deeper into the killings and being an ex banker with bank helps him link all the killings which finally draws a line linking all the 3 stories together spinning an intricate web of deceit, lies and treachery.

The brief review about the novel at the cover was enough to get me started with this novel and as i expected the read was worth it and not at all disappointing. The author succeeds in creating the mystery element by making the reader believe that Vikram is the main cuplrit, but then all of a sudden the story undergoes a major change and things get cleared out.
So in my opinion 'The Bankster' is a must read for its element of suspense and mystery. For the time being I'm looking forward to laying my hands on his other novels.

Book Review : The Krishna Key by Ashwin Sanghi

Plot Summary:

Five thousand years ago, there came to earth a magical being called Krishna, who brought about innumerable miracles for the good of mankind. Humanity despaired of its fate if the Blue God were to die but was reassured that he would return in a fresh avatar when needed in the eventual Dark Age—the Kaliyug.

My Review:

It's my first historical thriller and must say Krishna Key was amazing. The so called 'Father of Modern Historical Fiction' didn't disappoint me. Now i'm planning of reading his other two books also, the Chanakya's Chant and Rosable Line. The way the intricate details of history have been weaved together to make a whole, it made a pleasant and intriguing read.

Coming to the book, the characters of the book may resemble to that Da Vinci Code.Even though in a sense its different and worth a read. After reading the first half of the book i was barely able to keep the book down, it was so wonderful. The way the plot unveils is quite acceptable though. But in spite of all that it seems that the author has put together a lot of research to collect such tremendous information and sew them so wonderfully to create a story like this.

It's a marvel historical novel and is sure to become a hit like his other two novel's The Chanakaya's Chant and Rosable Line.

About Ashwin Sanghi:

Ashwin Sanghi is one of the well known writers in the Indian literary scene, and an author of thriller fiction. He shot to fame through his first release, The Rozabal Line. His books are characterized by extensive research, and they're fast paced political or historical thrillers.

Ashwin is an entrepreneur by profession but writing historical fiction in the thriller genre is his passion and hobby. Ashwin was educated at the Cathedral & John ConnonSchool, Mumbai, and St Xavier's College, Mumbai. He holds a masters degree from Yale and is working towards a Ph.D. in Creative Writing. Ashwin lives in Mumbai with his wife, Anushika, and his son, Raghuvir

Movie Review : Trivandrum Lodge

Here comes another marvelous movie from the makers of 'Beautiful' and 'Cocktail'.Either you call it the new genre of Malayalam cinema or the coming of talented and versatile artists like Anoop Menon , Malayalam film industry is changing.Without any big start cast, this movie looks appealing to the masses and its been proved again that no big star cast is needed to make a good movie.Bawdy(read adult) humor is something that drives the whole movie and keeps it going, even though it lacks in plot.

The story of Trivandrum Lodge revolves around the lives of the people living, offcourse at the Trivandrum lodge which is owned by Ravishanker played by Anoop Menon and his wife Malavika played by Bhavana.Abdu, a  resident at the Lodge with the traits of a nymphomaniac, portrayed by the ever improving Jayasurya is the highlight of the movie.Honey rose portrays the role of Dhwani,a bold and beautiful divorce e and a  writer who comes to the lodge to write her new novel.Child artists Master Dhanajay and Baby Nayanthara also render commendable performances. The script and dialogues by Anoop Menon is quite impressive although the plot does have it's loose ends.May be its the coming of the new Malayalam cinema, the way sexuality is treated in this movie, it looks far from being vulgar.Let it be the casual sex talk between women or sexual urge of a sex starved man, all had been scripted and portrayed excellently well. And the singing by M Jayachnadran is simple mellifluous.

All in all the movie looks impressive enough to be hit among the malayali audience and joining the caravan of those movies which succeeded without any big star cast, the likes of 22 Female Kottayam,Cocktail,Beautiful to name a few.So Hats off to the combo of Anoop Menon and Jayasurya for making such a good movie.

Book Review : Blue Moon Promise by Collen Coble

This was my first novel by Collen Coble and i must says its a nice read. The novel goes through the life of Lucy Marsh who was forced to agree to a a marriage with someone she haven't seen yet.The novel carries a strong under current of suspense revolving around the death of her father till the end but the author fails to deliver an appropriate climax to the story. The feminine traits of a young woman has been etched out perfectly well.I suggest its a good read but nothing much for people looking for suspense, though the novel holds a tinge of suspense through out.

From Death 2 Life

Anshuman picks up his mobile and calls Aditi.”Hi Aditi i’m sorry for what happened on the college tour, I never wanted it to happen that way. It just happened. I’m really sorry” said he. “What do you mean it just happened Anshu. You never uttered a word to me on the whole tour. Every time its been me who came up to you and talked to you. And when ever you saw me coming your way, you just simply turned away as if I never existed and its not the first time you have done this sort of a thing. I simply can’t take it anymore. Either you consider me some sort of  a fool who always comes  your way to talk to you or else you are too proud, adamant, pompous and consider yourself some sort of prince charming and feel ashamed to talk to me infront of others” said she with an emotional tone. “That is never the thing Aditi, you don’t understand me…” said he. “ya I never understood you and now I never want to understand you” said Aditi interrupting Anshuman in between and disconnects the phone. He tries to call her again but she does’nt picks up the call.

The next day when Anshuman reaches college he tries to look for Aditi but that day she does’nt show up in college. Anshu goes up to Sandhya, Aditi’s roommate and asks her about Aditi. When she saw Anshu she fumes at him.. “I don’t know Anshu what’s the matter with you but if you feel ashamed to talk to her infront of other people then please don’t try to call her any more. This is not the first time that you are doing this. I remember the last Xmas vacations when you and your friends and me , Aditi and Drishya were on train together on our way back home. Before boarding the train you were constantly talking to her over the phone and once you both came face to face you never uttered a word, nor to her neither to anyone of us as if we never existed there on the train. We felt so disgusted and awkward at that time. And now you repeated it again on the Madras Tour. Enough is enough” said she and left the place.

Anshuman became highly disturbed and starts believing that something is really wrong with him and that is the reason why he’s so shy talking infront of other people. And infact of his calling Aditi a number of times she never responded and he lost all hope. All these situations caused him to take some decisions. He packs his bag and without saying a word to any one moves towards the railway station. On reaching the railway station he simply boards a train. After two minutes the train departs. Slowly the train gains speed. Anshuman stood at the gate of the train looking outisde. Behind him stood a man in his forties, tall and handsome. He found something suspicious in Anshuman standing there. He called out to Anshuman and asked him to close the gate but Anshuman paid no heed to him. And when the train reached a bridge he simply tried to jump from the train. Seeing which the man got hold of the bag he was holding on his back and pulled him inside. The man slapped Anshuman tight on his face and took him along and threw him into his compartment. In compartment along with the man his wife and daughter were also present. Anshuman begins to cry. Seeing her husband being angry with Anshuman she escorts him and asks her husband what the matter is. The man gets seated and tells them about what happened to which his wife and daughter became shocked. The man decides to take Anshuman home until his where abouts are known so that he can hand over him to his family.

The whole night the man was along with Anshuman in a room just to make sure he doesn’t attempt anything of that sort again. The next morining he asks Anshuman his address. “Please sir don’t inform my parents they won’nt be able to bear it” said Anshuman. “Then what do you think had they been able to see your dead body?” said the man to which Anshuman begins to cry. “Then what should I do” he shouts and cries. “What is that makes you take a such a big step in your life, failure in studies or any love failure” said he. Suddenly Anshuman looks up.”So love failure that is it..” said he.”It ain’nt really love failure sir, I’m  fed up of what and how I’m, I can’t take It anymore” and then he tells the man about whatever things happened that caused him to take this step.”I just don’t know what happens to me whenever I try to speak to her in front of other I always have this fear that somebody is watching me through out and people are looking at me and talking about me and laughing at me. And all these things cause me to avoid her infront of others and she mistook my fear as my rude and arrogant behaviour.” After hearing Anshuman the man maintained a silence for a few minutes and said “Actually it’s what we call social phobia and you are not alone in this world suffering from this medical condition and like other ailments this too can be cured with patience, support and a strong will.” Hearing this Anshuman anxiously asked ”Social Phobia…how can you say that”.”Well actaully I’m a doctor and has been treating such cases for the past 15 years. Don't worry you'll be fine”

And 10 years  later Anshuman came back to this very city where he tried to end his life once. Anshuman owns a house in this city and is married for past 9 years. Aditi also got married after college. He's now back home. He rings the door bell. His seven year old daughter opens the door and sees Anshuman. He takes her into his arms and asks her “ Where is your mamma dear?” to which his daughter says “She is in but I’ll only let you go if you complete the story of the shy guy that you left untold before going on your tour” Anshuman kisses her and begins to tell the story when Aditi comes in.” When did you come, ahh and Shruti how many times have you heard the story of the shy guy" she smiles at Anshuman, "come here and let papa relax a bit, he’s just arrived from his tour.” She smiles and takes Shruti from him.

Lessons Learnt......

Sometimes it takes a whole lifetime to understand a thing and sometimes just a moment or may be a simple incident. The earlier you understand life the luckier you are. There are people who go on living life as if they are living because they are born in this world. There are only a  few people who are Born.... 2 Live LIFE and they understand the true meaning of living a life.

When we were kids, everyone of us was fascinated by watching movies and shows such as super man and so wanted to become a movie star or super man, batman or may be visiting a foreign land , and many more such kind of wishes that we wanted to fulfill. But slowly and gradually as we grew up and began understanding this world and its miseries we began to improvise with whatever we had and succumbed to the so called harsh realities of life. And gradually we began marking out our dreams and wishes as something impossible and we lost hope and compromise with life when life became a bit tougher. And finally we are reduced to mere objects which are programmed to simply exists in this world with no dreams to fulfill and nothing to achieve. That's the biggest mistake that one makes in life ....to compromise with the Hard ships of life.

Never let anything or anyone make you feel that what you dream is beyond your reach.Always go out of your way to achieve what you desire and always make that extra effort count.Stepping out of your comfort zone will only make you more confident and  vibrant.Try making your dreams become real, work harder for it and when one dream is pursued, dream for another one.And the last but most important thing, Fall in Love. Its the most beautiful thing to experience in this World. Its a wonderful feeling to love some one and to be loved by someone. And in between all these things never forget your loved ones and friends because relationships is what makes life meaningful.

There might arise a question that who the hell am i to preach about the principles of living life and all.Well then, i'm no one, merely no one.....just some one who's started realizing what this life is all about and trying to utilize the left over life and resources to the fullest of my capabilities to curve out a niche for myself in this big and lovely world.

What's 15th of August "It's a holiday ..oops sorry its friday"

These guys who fought for our country and are responsible for the hard earned independence, would have never thought that the day for which they sacrificed their life would be treated just as another holiday.

This is a funny incident that happened in my college.During one of our usual lab sessions, the lab instructor became patriotically charged when someone mentioned the name of Gandhiji. When he was at the peak of his patriotic feelings he asked a girl
"What is 15th of August?" pat came the reply "It's a holiday sir".His face suddenly became reddish and it seemed, if she uttered another word he would simply swallow her up without giving any second thought.Pondering over what she said, she stood up from her chair as if realizing her mistake,
"ooppss sorry sir its friday".

Anywaz Happy Independence Day to all Proud Indians ---Jai Hind

A Beautiful Mistake

One day out of the blue she came into my life ,
Until that day i never entered this state,
She knocked at my heart and i let her in,
May be that was a mistake, yet a beautiful mistake.

Exquisite was she or may be i was in a fairyland,
Mesmerizing was she or maybe i was with a psychiatrist,
No exaggerations, she took me to a new world,
A whole new world, simply majestic.

But she was destined for him, he for her
Then what was i doing there for heaven's sake,
And was that feeling inside??
Or maybe that was a mistake, a beautiful mistake.

A mistake not to mourn for, not to cry for
But to realize the spark it ignited,
O God! What a beautiful mistake,
A mistake that my heart instigated.

Two Sides of Life

I have learnt, that in life
We cannot get everything we desire,
Thus we should be happy and satisfied
With whatever we acquire.

No single person gets all joys of the world,
And no single person suffers from all sorrows,
Because it is our fate which decide,
What should be our today and what our tomorrow.

Therefore we should face bad times with courage,
And should always be joyful and cheerful
Coz these are the things which
Make our life meaningful.

It Takes Courage 2 Hope

Well this post is about a friend of mine, Jerin(name changed) whose brother Joshin(name changed) is suffering from autism and Joshin is 5 years old.
Jerin's family has taken his brother to all the big hospitals in the country for treatment but all in vain.Doctors say that they should have brought the child at an early stage coz its difficult to diagnose after an age of 4-5 years.

One day i asked him what is that makes you hope that your brother will be able to lead a normal life.Suddenly he turns red in face and fumes at me "are you saying he will not be able to lead a normal life?" then he gave me a look as if he wanted to wring my neck and suddenly left the place. It was then i realised may be he misunderstood me.

I met him after two days and apologized to him to which he just smiled. Then he went on to tell me a story about a young man who was deeply in love with a beautiful girl. Both studied in the same college but the problem was the girl loved someone else. After college the girl gets married. Boy leaves the city and decides never to marry anyone else.

"Now what has this to do with us?" i asked. With the same smile on his face he replies "that boy is my father and the beautiful girl is my mother now."
he continues "my father left the city with a hope that may be some day things turn out his way and it did. If he did'nt had any hope then i wouldnt be here."

"So you asked what is it that makes me hope, well, its my father".

You might be thinking what happened to her husband, well he died 1 year after the marriage due to blood cancer. And Jerin's parents got married after 10 years.

My Secret Box

Everyone in this world have some naked feelings and truths that they feel awkward to open up infront of friends. But its quite a relief to rip apart your heart,to someone you trust, allowing those suffocating thoughts, memoirs a soothing breeze of fresh air.People are lucky who have that "special" someone in their life,to whom they can open up their feeling and thoughts.

I too belong to that brigade, luckily.I have a friend called J***** ( my secret box ) and i have know her for past 4 years i guess. She's one of my best friend and my secret box.Whenever i am crestfallen its where i dump my thoughts. I know, though my thoughts are at the brightest place on this planet but still its quite dark for anyone to dig them out.Speaking to her, really heals me out and recharges me with a new gusto.
God Bless her........
